My Orriginal JEEP.

by Henry Shaw.
(Northampton)

I wish I still had it.

I wish I still had it.

Hi again Tony.

Yes me again. This time with the first vehicle I purchased after I passed my driving test. I payed £45 in 1963 for it, and never regretted it. It was a 1942 Ford Jeep GPW. My Father purchased it from a government sale in 1947, then sold it to a Doctor to do his country rounds.

Land Rovers were only just comming out. It then ended up at a local farm and used as a tractor! The farmer then traded it in for a car in 1963, and when I saw it at the garage I had to have it. Originally it had served as a Bomber Crew runabout on an airfield in Licolnshire.

I had the Jeep for 11 years, but eventually had to sell it to a collector of Military vehicles who rented them to film companies.

Hope this is also of interest.

Yours the wacky driver.

Henry Shaw.
