A sure way to make your vehicle get lots of looks is to get new Wheels and tires. For looks and appearance in current trends, bigger tires and wheels are very popular. There are literally thousands of aftermarket wheels and tires out there to choose from, no matter what kind of vehicle you drive. The majority of aftermarket wheels are getting larger in size. Most factory vehicles come with 14 to 17 inch wheels, while aftermarket wheels go up to 26 inches.
Some are even larger, but those are normally used on show vehicles only. Some new vehicles can be purchased with 20 inch wheels right off the lot. A few years ago this was unheard of.
Larger sized wheels and tires are the best way to improve both the performance and appearance of your vehicle at the same time. The larger the wheel on your vehicle, the smaller the sidewall of your tire can be. By reducing sidewall dimension, your vehicle's steering response will improve, as well as its lateral stability.
Tire technology has improved greatly in the past few years also. Good quality tires can actually improve the ride of your vehicle. When choosing a tire for your vehicle, there are lots of options to consider. First, there are tires that are better suited for SUVs that would not be the best choice for a sports car. You can choose from all-terrain tires, performance tires, winter tires, highway, and all season tires, depending on your driving needs.
There are even tires that are suitable for the race track, but at the same time are NOT approved to drive on the street. These are called drag radials or "slicks". These tires are made of a softer rubber compound, so they have better traction than regular tires. However, the tread wears very fast, so they wear out fast. Also, they're not good at handling water on the road.
