Tips For a Clean Car
Hand Wash Your Vehicle
No – DO NOT go thru the car wash! Even if it is a “touchless” car wash, you are still ruining the paint finish of your car. You need to get out the old bucket and sponge and HAND WASH your car if you really want it to look nice.
Why? Because it is impossible for any machine to properly and thoroughly clean a vehicle – there are places that are just unreachable and require a human hand to clean effectively.
Now before you get started, please get out the car wash soap. Yes, there is a difference and you should use what is designed for washing the exterior surface of a vehicle. While you are at it, be sure and bring the wash mitt or sponge as well as a chamois to dry the vehicle.
Ok, so you’ve read the label and have mixed up the soap and water according to the directions; now, before you start washing, you should rinse off the vehicle to remove any loose soil and dust. Otherwise your wash mitt will become a sand paper and could scratch the surface of your car.
You’ll want to wash every place that you can reach, even underneath the vehicle and inside the wheel wells (the area covering/shielding the tires). Rinse thoroughly and use the chamois to dry the entire vehicle. It will be necessary to open all access points (hood, trunk and doors) and dry the fender railings, radiator shroud, door jams, outer door edges, and inside the trunk as well. That way all the painted surfaces are sparkling clean and shiny.
