A Capri on Stilts!

Do not argue with me!
Hi again Tony.
Here is another car that you may like to see.
In 1961 my parents bought from an ex-military sale a Humber Pulman Staff car that actually saw service in the North Africa Campaign in the war. It was used for heavy towing. Eventually I got hold of it and put the capri body onto the chassis; after removeing the old body, overhauling the engine and checking the chassis and transmission. It fitted quite well, but the wheel arches had to be extended to accommodate the wide axles and 900X13 tyres.
It had 7 forward gears and 4 revers. I think that would take some beating! The engine was the Pulman 3.9 ltr Side Valve engine with Stromberg carb, very thirsty and untuned!! But had so much torque that it could
start off in 4th gear, and cruised at 70mph at 1000rpm.
Hope this is of interest. By the way this car, allas, is no more.
I do not think I could afford to run it today.
Yours the wacky driver. Henry Shaw.
