Put together by a friend of mine who upgraded to a ZR1.
Never owned a muscled up car like this and the ride is Exhilarating.
May make some paint changes to the car, possibly a T/A Eagle across the hood.

For those who may not know, the Pontiac Trans Am is one of several Pontiac Firebird upgrades. The Pontiac Firebird was manufactured between 1967 and 2002 by Pontiac (obviously).
There were in total four generations of the Pontiac Firebird. First generation included the model years between 1967 and 1969. The 1970 through 1981 models belonged to the second generation. Pontiac Firebirds between 1982 and 1992 belonged to the third generation and the 1993 to 2002 models completed the fourth and last generation.
Throughout the years, the Pontiac Firebird was offered with several options of engine sizes and types, different transmissions and other performance and appearance upgrades. The Trans Am included upgrades like higher horsepower, high performance handling and racing suspension and also included exclusive spoilers, hoods, fog lights and wheels.
The top of the line model of the fourth generation was the Trans Am WS6 which included among other high performance options, a functional rear spoiler, Ram Air and the LS1 Corvette engine. These models were capable of top speeds of 167 mph and the engine generated 320HP and were rated at 4.9s 0-60MPH (1998-2000) and 325HP 4.7s 0-60MPH (2001 and 2002).
Some would argue that the "Pontiac Firebird Firehawk" also known as "Firebird SLP Firehawk" is the top of the line. However, even though the Firehawk was sold by GM, the car was a baseline Trans Am modified at the SLP Engineering facility located in Montreal Canada.
The Firehawk had a lower profile hood and a bit more horse power than the Trans Am WS6, but overall it looked basically the same.

Here is a nice picture of the 99 Pontiac Transam taken with the owner sitting on the driver's seat. This car looks great outside and also on the inside as other pictures show. Apparently this car was not a WS6 originally, but according to the owner his friend upgraded it to a ZR1 which is a Corvette. And because the WS6 package includes the LS1 Corvette engine, this car is now similar to an original Trans Am WS6. Click on the Pic to enlarge. |
This is another great picture of the 99 Pontiac Transam which also includes the owner, this time leaning against what I believe is another of his cars. The front and hood of these cars are very unique in that there is not another car that comes even close in looks. This car turns heads and I know because I own one. Everywhere I go I either get compliments or thumbs up from people of all ages and gender. Believe it or not, even toddlers point at the car. Click on the Picture to see it enlarged. |

This is a picture showing the engine of the 99 Pontiac Transam. No doubt that the owner's friend did a great job. This engine and the engine compartment are squeaky clean as if the car is in a showroom. This is the LS1 Corvette engine and it looks great in red. This picture was taken with the 99 Pontiac Transam obviously driving along, telling by how blurry the picture is. On the other hand, perhaps the photographer didn't keep a very steady hand when he or she took the picture. In any case, the car looks like it's in motion. The wheel rims have been upgraded to ten spoke chromed rims. The original Trans Am WS6 comes equipped with 17" polished aluminum wheel rims with five spokes. Great picture of the interior of the 99 Pontiac Transam. The red accents really enhance the interior of this beauty. I must admit that I have never seen this color combination in any one of these cars. Even the shifter is in red to make it unique. Great choice of colors. Too bad that production of these great american muscle cars came to an end and it seems that there are no plans to resume production as GM did with the Camaro.
