"I checked out your site, it is awesome, I am very pleased with the way you presented my TA. My TA is on a few sites, but it is not presented as well as in yours. Thank you very much for the excellent presentation."

70 Ford Torino GT Pics

Here are the 70 Ford Torino GT Pics, Specs and History

Hi: My name is Rob J. Cuillerier from Gatineau, QC, Canada and just below are my 70 Ford Torino GT Pics, Specs and History.

Here are some of the 70 Ford Torino GT Specs and Mods:

POWERTRAIN

  • 429 Super Cobra Jet .

  • C-6 Automatic .

  • 3.91 "Track Loc" Rear End.

History:

She is one of only 241 factory equipped "Drag pack" GT fastbacks made that year. Key features include hide-away head lights, shaker, magnum 500 rims, louvers, front spoiler and laser stripe. Other factory options include tach, AM radio, dual rear speakers and light group. My best ET to date is 13.29 sec. @105 mph... Not bad for a 4200 pound pavement ripper.

It took me 12 years to convince the former owner to sell me this awesome car. June 24th 2004, he called me up to let me know he was ready to part with the car, telling me I should hurry before he changes his mind. The next day I was there with a certified check in my hands and ready for my dream to come true. That day, I finally became the proud owner of this rare piece of American Muscle history.

According to my research, my Torino was bought brand new in Scarborough Ontario Canada by a 50 year old Chinese man. New to America, he needed a car, he went to the Donway Ford Sales dealer and bought this brand new Ford Torino GT not realizing what the car really was. After all the paper work was done, he drove it home, then called up the dealer complaining about the poor gas mileage he was getting out of the big 429 Super Cobra Jet.  The salesman tried to explain to him that he bought a very special Muscle car and it was not built with gas economy in mind. The little man, who could barely see over the dash board, didn't know what the salesman was talking about and even though he was upset, decided to keep the car.

When the winter months came along, he called up the salesman again, complaining about the poor handling qualities the car had! "I'm always slipping and sliding all over the place, I can't even go up my driveway without loosing the rearend. I want my money back!" he said. But by then, it was too late; the salesperson told the poor man that he was stuck with the car and that he must try to make the best of it.

So the Chinese man basically used the car for small errands and started to take the bus to work while the car lay almost unused in his garage. In the early 80's, he was transferred to the Ottawa region and brought the car with him. The Torino was then sold to a young lad. The new owner street raced it for a few summers until he lost control of it coming out of an intersection and realized he wanted something with less power but with more handling qualities. So in 1984, sold it. The third owner enjoyed the car for the next 12 years before storing it for another 8 years. When I purchased the car, the odometer read 58,800 original miles and everything had been kept original right down to the air pollution pump and exhaust manifolds.

Today, this 64,000 mile legendary street warrior is mostly used on sunny days, Saturday night cruises, car shows and the occasional "Green light Grand prix" of course! I still have all the original engine parts, if I ever wish to put her back to original stock-looking condition, but for now, I'm having fun with my dream Muscle car. I am now the fourth owner of this awesome machine and you can bet, I'm enjoying every minute of it!

Here are some of the 70 Ford Torino GT Pics:

70 Ford Torino GT

Great Picture of the 70 Ford Torino GT. This trully is an American Legend of a Muscle Car. You must read the History of this particular beauty. The present owner is the fourth owner, but the History of this Car is somewhat funny. Especially the part that concerns the first owner. He bought this Car without knowing what he was buying and instead of being happy and proud of owning such a piece of History, he kept on complaining about it's power and handling. Click on the Pic to enlarge.

Beautiful Picture of the Engine of this 70 Ford Torino GT. Everything visible on this Picture looks brand new. This is the original 429 Super Cobra Jet Engine that this Car came with (except for a few replacement components of course). If you didn't know what Car this Engine was from, you would think that it was from a relatively new Car, telling by it's brand new look. Click on the Pic to enlarge.

70 Ford Torino GT Engine
70 Ford Torino GT Dash

Excellent Picture of the imaculate Dashboard and Interior of the 70 Ford Torino GT. Nothing on this Picture looks like it was not original (except perhaps for the floormats). This beauty is one of only 241 factory equipped "Drag pack" GT Fastbacks made in 1970. Some factory options this Car has include Tach, AM Radio, Dual Rear Speakers and Light Group. Click on this Picture to enlarge.

Here is a Picture of the Rear of the 70 Ford Torino GT. This beauty is in excellent shape overall as seen in other Pictures and the Rear is not any different. This beauty seems to have all the factory options including Rear Window Louvers visible on this Picture. However, one option it doesn't have is Power Windows and another that it perhaps doesn't have is Power Door Locks. Click on the Picture to enlarge.

70 Ford Torino GT Side

Another great Picture of the 70 Ford Torino GT. Beautiful aerodynamic lines. This Car looks fast even when it is parked. Everything on this Car looks original including the Body paint with the wide stripe starting ahead of the front wheel and spanning the whole length of the Door and ending just at the begining of the Rear quarter pannel. Make sure that you click on the Picture to enlarge.
