Webmaster's Comments:
The 1970 El Camino marked the middle of the third generation of these cars/trucks. Many consider the Chevrolet El Camino as well as it's competition the Ford Ranchero, cars. However, the
official classification of these vehicles in North America is "trucks".
The El Camino was Chevrolet's answer to the success of the Ford Ranchero that started production in 1957. Chevrolet started production of the El Camino in 1959 and the first generation run between the 1959 and 1960 model years.
Production was discontinued after the 1960 model year.
The El Camino was re-introduced in 1964 which marked the beginning of the second generation which ran between 1964 and 1967. From the B-pillars forward, the front of the 1964 model was identical to the front of the Chevelle.
The 1965 model received what was considered by many as an attractive face lift.
The third generation began with the model year of 1968 and ended with the 1972 model year. There were two more
generations before production of the El Camino ended with the 1987 model year.

seats, Wilwood 4 wheel power disc brakes and a lot more. The 1970 El Camino marked the middle of the third generation of these cars/trucks. To read more about the El Camino, scroll up to the top of the page.

Great picture of the rear of the 1970 El Camino. On this picture, this beauty looks more like a truck than a car. Some people call it a car, others call it a truck. Officially at least in North America, this vehicle is classified as a truck. The El Camino was Chevrolet's answer to the success of the Ford Ranchero that started production in 1957.
