70 Chevy Camaro Pics

Here are the 70 Chevy Camaro Pics, Specs and History

Hi: My name is Dr. Patrick McCauley from Patterson, CA, United States and here are my 70 Chevy Camaro Pics, Specs and History.

Here are some of the 70 Chevy Camaro Specs and Mods:

SPECS:

  • 468 Big Block.

  • Dynoed 655HP.

  • Richmond 6 speed.

  • Currie 9" rear.

  • 17" Ralleys all around.

History:

Bought the car about 11 years ago. Took three years to get it to its current state.

During the early years while restoring the car, I had a 10 bolt rear end in it and had new 4:10 gears put in. when I got the rear end back I failed to put gear oil in it. It only took a few miles on the freeway to tear those new gears up!

I am currently on two projects 1971, 3/4 ton 4x4 Chevy and another 1970 Camaro which I will pretty much take all the stuff off this car and put it on the other one. I intend to redo a lot on this one now that its been several years since it's completion. A lot of cool stuff out there!

Webmaster's Comments:

The 70 Chevy Camaro is the first model year of the second generation of this very successful north American Muscle Car. The first generation, unveiled in September of 1966 encompassed the model years 1967 through to 1969. The second generation which started with the 1970 Camaro, included all subsequent models all the way through to the 1981 model year. All Camaros up until the end of the fourth generation were based on a rear wheel drive F-body platform with 2 doors and were available as coupes, T-Tops or convertibles.

Cosmetic changes were made in 1974 and 1978 model years. Due to the heavy restyling, the car became wider and somewhat larger overall, even though it was still based on the F-body platform. The 1971 SS350 model was named in August of 1971 by the Road & Track Magazine, one of the ten best cars in the world. Several packages were available over the years, but some of them gradually disappeared. One of those was the Z28 package which was reintroduced in 1977 mainly in response to the extremely successful Pontiac Trans Am.

Production of the Camaro came to a stop with the model year of 2002. This was the last year of the fourth generation which included model years between 1993 and 2002. Incidentally 2002 was also the last model year of the fourth generation of the Trans Am. Production of the Camaro resumed in 2010 with the fifth generation which was inspired by the retro-look of the first generation.

70 Chevy Camaro

Picture obviously taken at a car show showing the 70 Chevy Camaro with the hood open to expose the engine. There is no doubt that this car has been restored with great care. This car has a 468 Big Block and has been dynoed at 655HP. It also has a Richmond 6 speed transmission, Currie 9" rear and 17" Ralleys all around. It took the owner 3 years to get it restored to its present showroom condition. Click on this Picture to open a new page with a larger Pic.

Nice picture taken, this one showing the rear of the 1970 Camaro. 1970 was the first model year of the second generation of these great north American Muscle Cars. This particular one has a Richmond 6 speed with a Currie 9" rear and 17" Ralleys all around to help transfer the power of the 468 Big Block to the road. This is definitely a very fast muscle car. These cars were and are loved not just for their power but also for their looks. Click on the Picture to enlarge.

70 Chevy Camaro Rear
70 Chevy Camaro Engine

Wow, what a great picture showing the engine of the 1970 Chevy Camaro. This is the 468 Big Block as identified by the owner. These cars originally were available with the following engine options: an inline 6-250 cu in (4.1 L), a V8-302 cu in (4.9 L), a V8-307 cu in (5.0 L), a V8-327 cu in (5.4 L), a V8-350 cu in (5.7 L), or a V8-396 cu in (6.5 L). Click on the image to enlarge.

Another great picture taken at a car show. This one shows the side of the 1970 Chevy Camaro. The 17" Ralley wheels make this car look great. The first generation of these cars were great looking and encompassed the model years between 1967 and 1969 inclusive, but the second generation which started in 1970 in my opinion looked as good if not better than the first generation. Please click on the Pic to enlarge.

70 Chevy Camaro Side
70 Chevy Camaro Front

Front picture of the 1970 Chevy Camaro. It is obvious on this picture how wide these cars looked in comparison with the first generation models, even though both generations were based on the same G-body platform. In fact all model years encompassing all generations up until the end of the fourth generation were based on the G-body platform. Click the Pic to enlarge.
