50 Studebaker Land Cruiser Pics

• Top of the line Studebaker for 1950.

History:

Our family always had Studebakers until they went out of business and I've always felt that I would own another one some day. In the spring of 2004, I started looking in earnest for either a 1950 or 1951 "Bullet-Nose", or a 1953 or 1954 "Loewy Coupe". I spent several months and traveled all across the Midwest and out to the East Coast before I found this beauty less than a hundred miles from home, here in Michigan.

I never knew why my dad always bought Studebakers. He never said, and I never thought to ask him. He passed away a few years before I bought this car, but in my attempts to learn more about the history of my car and Studebaker in general, I think I know why he always bought Studebakers. During World War II, Studebaker made the engines for the B-17 bomber, and my dad was a belly-gunner on a B-17. I think that buying Studebakers was just his way of thanking Studebaker for making those engines that always got him back safely from their bombing missions.
